The Texas A&M Aggie Women advanced to the NCAA Womens Final 8 with a 2-1 win over Virginia. The Aggies came out firing notching the first goal in the 20th minute. Laura Grace Robinson hit a low cross into the box that All-American forward Ashlee Pistorius was able to knock home on the back post.

Just 3 minutes later it was 2-0 after Amy Berend released Elizabeth Jones in behind the Virginia defense where she lifted a shot over the onrushing keeper. However, Virginia was not to roll over as they struck back before halftime when sophomore midfielder Jen Redmond one-timed a Kristen Weiss cross perfectly into the far corner of the A&M goal.

Virginia pressed for the tying goal in the 2nd half but despite outshooting A&M 14-11 and having 5 corner kicks to 0 they were unable to find the back of the net. Texas A&M advances to face national power North Carolina in Chapel Hill Saturday.

The Texas women couldn't solve the defending national champion Portland squad in a 2-0 loss. Portland did what a road team playing in a hostile environment had to do and grabbed an early goal in only the 4th minute of play. Once Texas regained there composure they were able to take long periods of the match to Portland. The Longhorns fired 10 shots but had nothing to show at halftime and trailed 1-0. They continued to push in the 2nd half launching another 10 shots at goal but it was a late strike from Portland that put the match away. With only 8 minutes left and Texas pushing players forward Portland was able make it 2-0 from a Natalie Budge strike ending the Longhorn hopes and season.

Texas finished the season with a school record 18 wins.
