Andromeda 90 Boys Capture 2nd Consecutive National Title

The Andromeda 90 boys were looking for their 2nd consecutive national title and Shattuck-St. Mary's of Minnesota stood in their way. . In the round robin the U-18 Boys teams fought to a 2-2 draw, however, the title game was a different story as Andromeda jumped out early as Anthony Gerhart converted a penalty kick in the 12th minute for a 1:0 lead. As the half neared Jason Guehler doubled the advantage in the 42nd. Early in the second half Shattuck appeared ready to make a charge moving up the line to add additional pressure to the defending champs. Shattuck's Gideon Asante flicked a sure goal over the Andromeda keeper but Taylor Cluff made a play to redirect the shot over the crossbar to maintain the two goal lead. Late in the second half, Zachary Funk beat his mark and then the keeper to the far post to complete the 3:0 win and earn Andromeda their second consecutive national championship and put an exclamation point on a dominant weekend from Dallas teams in which they took 7 of the 12 national titles.
