A stoppage time goal from Eric Avila rescued a point for FC Dallas in a 2-2 draw with the Columbus Crew Saturday night at Pizza Hut Park. A dominant first half from FC Dallas was almost wasted on the night. The Crew could not contain the darting runs of David Ferreira in the first half as Dallas led 1-0 on a Jeff Cunningham penalty kick. It very easily could have been two or three though. The class of the Columbus Crew showed through in the 2nd half though as they showed why they are considered one of the top teams in MLS. The Crew switched the ball with ease and pushed FC Dallas deeper and deeper as the half wore on. An Adam Moffat goal evened the game in the 52nd minute. Columbus continued to push forward and were rewarded in the 82nd when Chad Marshall was tackled on a corner kick. The referee awarded a penalty kick which Hartman saved, but the rebound went straight back to Schelotto who nodded it home for the 2-1 lead. With only minutes left to play, FC Dallas poured forward looking to get the goal back. Deep into stoppage time a quick start on a free kick put Ferreira into the box. His near post shot was turned away by Will Hesmer but the clearance came out to Eric Avila who fired on net. The ball curled around the crowd in front, hitting the left post and bounding into the net for the 2-2 tie.
