Mallory Baum's first career goal led the SMU womens soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Rice Friday in Dallas. The game was just as tight as the score indicates as SMU outshot Rice 17-15 on the evening. The winning goal came in the 36th minute when Mallory Baum pounced on a loose ball from an SMU corner kick firing it home. The goal would stand up as Courtney Webb recorded five saves to post her second shutout of the year. The win moves SMU to 3-7 on the season and 1-2 in Conference USA play while Rice falls to 2-7-2 and 0-3. SMU returns to the field on Sunday for a rainy matchup with Houston.
