Birdville Boys roll on with potent strikers

If the 1-2 combination of Cesar Rosales and Tyler Wagley clicks as well as it did Friday, then Birdville's undefeated district record has a very good chance of staying that way until season's end. The two were simply unstoppable.

In the first half alone, Rosales scored three times and Wagley added two goals and two assists to lead the Hawks to a 6-0 victory over Keller Timber Creek at the BISD Fine Arts/Athletics Complex.   The win moved Birdville (15-2-2) to 7-0-0 in District 11-4A. Timber Creek (4-9-1) dropped to 1-5-1.

Rosales' first goal came on a give-and-go with Wagley at the 37:51 mark. He nearly had his second goal in less than three minutes when he teed a shot off the left post.  The miss only seemed to fuel his fire as he headed in his second goal just in front of the net at the 22:11 mark to give the Hawks, who have outscored their district opponents 23-5, a 2-0 lead.

It didn't stay that way long as Tyler Wagley maneuvered through several defenders before he bent the ball just inside the right post for a 3-0 Birdville lead at the 17:39 mark.  To this point, Timber Creek, which lost to Birdville 3-0 on January 31, had yet to establish a consistent flow offensively.

With a third of the first 40 minutes gone, the ball again found its way to Wagley, who again made good on his opportunity. This time, recognizing that Rosales had broken free of Timber Creek's last line of defense, Wagley uncorked a marksman-like 30 yard pass to Rosales, who then faked out Timber Creek's goalie for his third goal.
