Brackets set for Dallas Cup XXXIV Super Group

The brackets are all set for the Super Group at Dallas Cup XXXIV and what a tournament it should be!  The three groups are loaded.   Play kicks off on Sunday March 24th as the main matches move to the Cotton Bowl this year.

It should be interesting to see how the games feel at the huge stadium.  It's ashame that the sides couldn't come together on FC Dallas Stadium.  It is definitely a downgrade for Dallas Cup this year.  Hopefully FC Dallas and Dallas Cup can come together next year and realize it is a mutually beneficial relationship.

Anyway, back to the brackets:

Group A - Manchester United, Kashiwa Reysol (Japan), Club America (Mexico), Dallas Texans
Manchester United headlines this group as they return after a run to the finals last year.  They fell in a 2-1 entertaining match with Cortiba for the title.  Don't just hand the group title to ManU though.  Club America will bring a very strong side for sure and nothing they would like more than to claim a huge scalp like United.  Japan side Kashiwa Reysol returns after a solid display last year.  Their quick possession game was fun to watch last year and they did blast Everton.  Dallas Texans always seem to produce an upset, but rarely have the talent to make a run against the professional opposition.

Group B - Cortiba (Brazil), Fulham (England), Eintracht Frankfuty (Germany), LA Galaxy
Returning champions Cortiba is the class of the group.  Can they put together another run like last year?  In my opinion, this is the group of death.  Every side is very capable.  European sides Fulham FC and Eintracht Frankfurt will bring very good sides and don't count out the LA Galaxy as west coast teams always fare well at Dallas Cup.

Group C - Fluminense (Brazil), Tigres (Mexico), Aalborg (Denmark), Toronto FC
Legendary Brazilian side Fluminense comes to Dallas this year.  Cannot wait to see this side play.  They should be the class of the group, but can they take out Dallas Cup regulars Tigres?  The Mexico side seems to always make it out of group play.   Toronto FC and Aalborg should fight it out for the last two places.
