Brek Shea leads FC Dallas over San Jose

Two second half goals from Brek Shea led FC Dallas to a convincing 2-0 win over San Jose at Pizza Hut Park Saturday night.  It was pretty much one way traffic all night long as San Jose arrived in Frisco playing their third game in eight days and looked disinterested and tired most of the game.

Playing only a single forward, the Earthquakes sat back the entire opening half inviting FC Dallas to try to break them down.  Dallas lost patience too often and resorted to long balls letting San Jose off the hook many times.  The only real positive of the opening half was Jair Benitez getting down the right flank supplying several very dangerous crosses.  The finishing was horrible as both Cunningham and David Ferreira missed simple finishes in front of goal.

Coach Schellas Hyndman was proactive at halftime bringing on Eric Avila to provide more offensive punch.  The halftime adjustments paid off as FC Dallas looked much more confident in the second half, maintaining solid possession.  Then came the Brek Shea breakout.  In the 58th minute David Ferreira skipped past a defender to the endline and slid a perfect ball back which Shea knocked home for the FC Dallas lead.

Only two minutes later it would be Ferreira once again providing the ball for Brek Shea.  This time a well weighted long ball found Shea 1v1 where he outmuscled the defender and flicked past Joe Cannon for the 2-0 lead.  San Jose never got their footing and limped out of Pizza Hut Park well beaten.
