Coming from behind was nothing new for the Arlington Sam Houston boys soccer team in the playoffs.  Thus they didn't show a hint of panic when they fell behind in the Class 6A State championship game to Dallas Jesuit. The Texans had trailed in each of their last three playoff games and always came back to win them all. But if you keep playing with fire eventually you will get burnt and in the Class 6A state title match Saturday night Sam Houston were burnt.

Christian Lerna's rebound goal with a minute left in the first overtime period lifted Jesuit to a 2-1 victory over the Texans, and with it, the Class 6A state title at Birkelbach Field. Jesuit wrapped up a 22-3-1 season with the win, while Sam Houston closed its campaign at 22-3-2.

The Rangers took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute of the first half on a free kick goal from Tommy Flaim. Sam Houston almost tied the match late in the first half, but Sergio Martinez's shot sailed wide, leaving the score at 1-0 at halftime.

Midway through the second half, the Texans finally tied the game when Jason Ramirez's free kick from 25 yards out found its way into the back of the net. Both teams attacked down the stretch, but regulation time ended with the teams tied at 1-1.

The Christian Lerna goal late in the first overtime gave Jesuit the lead, but the Texans stormed the Rangers' goal at the end, with two shots narrowly missing and a third stopped by Jesuit goalkeeper Luke Ostrander.
