SMU, TCU and North Texas are all ready to open the womens college soccer season this weekend. The three have been training hard and going through two and three a day practices in preparation. SMU and Coach Brent Erwin are looking to bounce back from a couple of subpar seasons on the Hilltop. "I am bursting with excitement," said head coach Brent Erwin. "We've put in a lot of work, and the women have put a ton of work in this summer. We're excited because I think the mentality of the group is right, the makeup of the group is right, the balance of the group is right and I think we have quality competition in a lot of spots." SMU will open the season Friday evening against Florida International. The following weekend they head to the northeast to face off with Portland and Oregon. Across town TCU is looking to build on a solid 2009 which saw them defeat Texas in Austin. The Lady Frogs return nine starters for this year as they open play Friday night in Lubbock against Texas Tech. They'll return home for a midweek game against Texas Southern before facing national powers USC on Friday night in Fort Worth. North Texas is also looking to make waves this year and earn a berth to the NCAA Tournament. They'll be looking for some youngsters to step in and fill the void from graduation, but they do have senior goalkeeper Mandy Hall returning to lead the young team. They'll open the season with a pair of home games this weekend against Texas Southern and Missouri State.
