David Ferreira Era Ends at FC Dallas

FC Dallas has declined to extend the contract of midfielder David Ferreira.  Ferreira has been a valuable member of the squad since 2009 and he was named MLS MVP after leading FCD to the MLS Cup in 2010.  Ferreira was the engine that drove the entire squad.  Unfortunately he went down injured in 2012 and has just not been the same since.  His playing time steadily decreased over this season and it is no surprise Dallas is letting him go.  The midfielder will be eligible for the MLS Re-Entry Draft in December if he chooses to stay in the United States rather than playing in another league.

FC Dallas also declined contract options on Ramon Nunez and Erick.  Nunez was a member of FC Dallas from 2004-2007 before bouncing between several clubs and tearing his ACL.  He rejoined the team and saw limited duty this year.

Erick joined the team at the start of July as Dallas tried to address their weakness at holding midfield.  Despite logging over 600 minutes, FCD decided the 25 year old was not the answer and will let him go.

The team is still searching for their next coach after Schellas Hyndman stepped down at the end of the season.  Hopefully leadership is in place within the next few weeks to take advantage of the quickly approaching offseason.
