Dallas Cup adds Under 17 Super Group

Seems Dallas Cup is taking the next big step.  The internationally renowned youth soccer tournament is adding a Super Group to the Under 17 age bracket.  The U17 Super Group will join the wonderful Under 19 Super Group and likewise will be composed of 12 teams (6 American and 7 International sides).

“The quality of teams that applied for the U17 age group this year was once again tremendous,” said Dr Pepper Dallas Cup Executive Director, Andy Swift. “Due to the number of exceptional teams, we were able to create a twelve team Super Group while not diminishing the regular U17 bracket, which will still consist of 28 highly regarded domestic and international teams.”

Well you cannot agree with Swift's statement that the regular U17 bracket will not be compromised.  You did just pull out what you consider the top 12 squads from the regular bracket now didn't you?

However you tend to spin it though, there is no denying that an Under 17 Super Group will add another level of intrigue and spice to the already wonderful tournament.  Can we get the main games back to Toyota Park already though?  UT-Dallas and the Cotton Bowl are simply not comparable to the great complex up in Frisco and yes it does diminish the overall tournament.

The Under 17 Super Group for Dallas Cup XXXV
Aalborg BK, Denmark
CF Monterrey Rayados, Mexico
Club America, Mexico
Costa Rica U17 National Team, Costa Rica
IF Brommapojkarna, Sweden
Tigres UANL, Mexico

Boca United Gold, Florida
CZ Elite, California
Dallas Texans, Texas
FC Copa Academy Jrs, New Jersey
FC Golden State Diamond, California
UFA New Jersey Strikers, New Jersey
