Same song, different verse.  FC Dallas jumps out to a lead only to see it slip away in the second half ending in another poor result.  Make it eight in a row now without a victory after FC Dallas fell 2-1 in Chicago Wednesday night.

It was the team's first ever loss at Toyota Park.  It the Fire's first win against FC Dallas in their last seven meetings.  It gave the Brimstone Cup to Chicago for the first time since 2001.  Ouch.

Like last week and many matches before, FC Dallas played an excellent first half and took a 1-0 lead thanks to rookie defender Matt Hedges.  A corner kick was headed on goal by Blas Perez where Fire keeper Sean Johnson pushed it away.  The save went straight to Hedges for nodded it home.

Only minutes remained until halftime, but Dallas could not hold the lead as the Fire tied the match through a left footed strike from Sebastian Grazzinni.

“I thought the key for us was losing George John at halftime with a potential concussion," Hyndman said. “We wanted to keep it safe. That was his injury. So we're hoping that he'll be OK to jump back in to the game this weekend."

The visitors had a golden opportunity to take the lead just after halftime when Bruno Guarda was brought down in the Fire penalty area.  Blas Perez had his penalty kick saved by Johnson though.

FC Dallas had to reshuffle the backline due to the John injury and it ultimately led to the deciding goal.  It was controversial though.  A nothing highball clearance turned bad as Zach Loyd failed to deal with the ball and let it bounce leading to a foul in the penalty area.

Kevin Hartman answered Johnson’s save by stopping Grazzini’s kick, but Marco Pappa was there to finish the rebound. Replays showed that Pappa was illegally in the penalty area before the kick was taken, but the goal stood to the Dallas protests.

The loss leaves FC Dallas 0-6-1 on the road this season and the road is where they will stay.  They don't return home until late June so a turn-around looks bleak.
