The eight high school soccer teams in District 5-6A wrapped up their regular season last night in four matches full of drama.  Six teams entered the evening jockeying for playoff positioning and only four playoff berths.  Matchday 14 had it all it seems.  A last second game winning goal.  A massively influential disallowed goal on a phantom call.  A shock draw and a huge win in a rivalry match.  Byron Nelson, Keller Central, Keller and Denton Ryan punched their playoff tickets and will begin knockout rounds next week.

Keller Central 3 Timber Creek 2
A wild back and forth match was decided late on.  The red hot Sean Garcia was once again the hero for the Chargers as he scored twice on the night including grabbing the dramatic winner with only 21 seconds left on the clock.  Keller Central finishes 2nd place in the district while Timber's season comes to a close.

Byron Nelson 0  Fossil Ridge 0
The talking point in this match was the phantom foul call after Fossil's Patrick Nuss headed home the go-ahead goal midway through the 2nd half.  The call left everyone wondering and even got an apology from the referee.  The call had a major impact on the final district standings as it took away a goal that would have put Fossil into the final playoff spot and also would have cost Byron the #1 playoff seed.

Denton Ryan 1  Denton Guyer 0

Everything went right on the night for Denton Ryan.  They got the win over city rivals Guyer and all the other district results fell their way.  Denton Ryan jumped into the 4th and final playoff position.  The reward?  Facing off against the district champion from 6-6A which is widely considered the toughest district in the state.

Keller 1  Northwest 1

Not exactly the best result to take into the playoffs as the Indians slogged to a draw at home with winless Northwest.  The Indians finish a very respectable 3rd in District 5-6A

District 5-6A Standings
Byron Nelson     9-1-4   22   +20
Fossil Central     9-2-3  21   +13
Keller HS             7-2-5   19   +5
Denton Ryan      5-5-4   14    -3

Timber Creek     4-6-4   12   -2
