FC Dallas finally break long winless drought

Finally the streak has been broken.  Thirteen games without a victory.  Saturday night FC Dallas beat the Colorado Rapids to get back in the win column.

It was the Carlos Rodriguez and Fabian Castillo show as both notched a goal and an assist in the 2-1 win.  It wasn't always rosy though as Colorado took the lead in the 50th minute through Omar Cummings.  Was FC Dallas heading to another poor result?

Carlos Rodriguez pulled FCD even on the hour mark and there was hope to break the long drought.  With only 10 minutes left Dallas got their break.

Fabian Castillo took the cross from Rodriguez in the slot and drilled a shot past keeper Matt Pickens. It was the second goal of the year for Castillo.

"The ball got deflected into space where there was two FC Dallas players," Castillo said. "I was fortunate to get on top of the ball, have some separation and put it in."

The win gives FC Dallas a clear shot in the arm as they still harbour playoff hopes despite sitting last in the Western Conference.   Now, though, it’s a quick turnaround for FC Dallas as they head to San Jose for a game against the league leaders on Wednesday.
