FC Dallas slumps to another poor result at home
Published 4/8/2018 9:34:27 AM by staff from dallas
FC Dallas slumped to another poor result on home turf last night as they needed a late rally to salvage a point from a very average Colorado Rapids side. Not a good result at all and one that could come back to haunt later in the season.
After a scoreless opening half of play the red hot Dominique Badji made his mark on the match as he won a long ball over the top and turned toward goal, creating a two-v-one situation in the attacking third. A week after scoring his first professional hat trick, Badji slipped a pass to Mason, whose left-footed shot deflected off Reto Ziegler and past Jimmy Maurer for his second goal of the season in the 62nd minute
It looked like the Rapids were going to steal the full three points until a perfect pass from Mauro Diaz beat the entire Colorado defense leaving substitute Cristian Colman to nod a header past the frozen Tim Howard. It was the 6th time Colorado and Dallas have tied in their last eight meetings.
For the serious FC Dallas fan things are serious. More lost points at home. A four game homestand to start the season with only a single win. The standings look ok so far in the young season, but these dropped points will be the death of the team later in the season. When it is playoff position fighting time this homestand will be the difference more than likely. The only hope is that this team is a beast on the road and that is a hard thing to do in any sport much less MLS.
Next week FC Dallas hits the road for the first time in MLS play as they visit New England. The Revs are off to a good start at 3-1-1 so it will be a stiff test of the FCD road resolve.
