FC Dallas ends losing steak clinches playoff berth

The week and a half off clearly did struggling FC Dallas some good.  Finally some goals and finally a good result.  The team looked much more like their old selves.  Hopefully this energizes them for a MLS playoff run and a strong finish to the CONCACAF Champions League.

The win broke a four match MLS losing streak and kept the Brimstone Cup in Dallas for another year as the 13th placed Chicago Fire continued limping through their miserable 2011 season.  FCD had not scored a goal in four matches, but that would change just before halftime.  A long throw in caught the Fire defense napping as Jackson sprinted after it.  He split tow defenders and rolled a shot to the backpost.  Chicago keeper Sean Johnson was caught leaning the wrong way and the ball slipped under him and into the net.

The scoring drought was broken.  Dallas would make it 2-0 after the break as they scored from a corner kick.  Daniel Cruz chipped a loose ball over his shoulder and into the net in the 53rd minute and FCD looked comfortable from there.

Chicago would go down to 10 men in the 79th as Pavel Pardo was sent off for a nasty challenge against Ricardo Villar.  The Fire would grab a late consolation goal from on a Grazzini strike, but that would be all.  FC Dallas clinches a playoff berth with the road win and hopefully get their season back on track.
