FC Dallas adds Rolando Escobar to talented midfield

The wealth of attacking talent just got richer as Oscar Pareja and FC Dallas announced the signing of veteran midfielder Rolando Escobar from Panama.  FC Dallas might be the highest scoring team in the Western Conference, but that is not stopping them from adding more pieces to the attacking puzzle.  With a busy summer ahead the depth will most likely be needed as Dallas chases the top spot in the MLS Western Conference.

The 33 year old Escobar joins FC Dallas from Venezuelan first-division side Deportivo Anzoátegui SC, where he has played in 104 matches and scored 31 goals since 2011. He has also appeared in 33 matches for the Panamanian national team since 2006.

“Escobar is a player that can fit in anywhere in the midfield,” FC Dallas technical director Fernando Clavijo said in a statement. “He is more of an attacking player than a defensive player but the number one thing he adds is experience. We feel he is a guy that can come in and contribute right away, which is rare in MLS, especially in his position.

Calvijo added "We are looking ahead to a very competitive second half of the season. Escobar’s experience, knowledge and quality will help us.”

Escobar will further bolster an FC Dallas side that currently sits in first place in the Western Conference and has scored 18 goals, which is tied for the most in Major League Soccer. He becomes the latest weapon in a deep stable of attacking options that already includes, among others, compatriot Blas Perez, Fabian Castillo, Mauro Diaz and Tesho Akindele.
