FC Dallas facing must win game with Seattle

It's difficult to tab such an early season MLS match as "must win", but Thursday night's game with Seattle Sounders FC fits the tag.  After only managing a pair of draws in their opening two home games, FC Dallas squandered a lead and lost in New York last weekend.  With only two points to show from three matches Dallas finds themselves in last place in the MLS Western Conference.

The team already trails first place LA Galaxy by a whopping ten points in the standings and already sit two games out of a playoff start.  The team cannot allow the slow start to continue without seriously damaging the season.  We saw what happened last year.  By the time FC Dallas started playing good soccer they were too far behind to be a factor.

Bring on Seattle Thursday.  It's a huge early season game.  The Sounders are five points ahead of FC Dallas already.  A loss would widen that gap to a large eight.  A win would drag FC Dallas back into the fold.  A draw would mean the team would only have three points from three home games and that won't get it done.

The problems of the opening three matches must be fixed.  A defense that plays pretty well and then switches off allowing soft goals.  The golden boot winner frmo last year in Jeff Cunningham that couldn't finish a Happy Meal so far this year.  An inconsisitent substitution pattern.  I understand the coach might fancy Brek Shea, but how has this talent not seen the field?

It would also be nice to get a marketing team with a clue.  The club is last in MLS attendance so far, but we'll save the attendance issue for another time.  Bottom line Thursday's game with Seattle is massively important for an early season MLS match.  Gotta win it.
