FC Dallas battles to 1-1 draw with Seattle

It is getting to be crunch time as MLS teams jockey for playoff positioning.  FC Dallas is just fighting to be a part of the MLS playoffs.  It was a hot afternoon in Frisco Texas as both teams battled the conditions.

Seattle grabbed the lead in the 20th minute of play.  Mauro Rosales, who leads the MLS with 13 assists, put Seattle ahead with his second goal of the season after taking a beautiful setup from Steve Zakuani. Zakuani, making his first start and third appearance after recovering from a broken leg on April 22, 2011, ran around Dallas defender Zach Loyd on the left side before delivering a perfect pass to the charging Rosales for an easy finish at the back post.

FC Dallas would answer right back though.  Jackson's third goal of the year tied it 12 minutes later. Blas Perez, making his first start and second appearance for Dallas after missing 12 games with a right foot sprain, delivered a nifty pass across the penalty area to the charging Jackson, who re-directed it home near the left post.

From there it was a story of the goalkeepers.  Kevin Hartman and Michael Gspurning turned in huge saves to keep the match at 1-1.  Somehow Hartman stopped Brad Evan's point blank header as he reacted to tip the ball over in a wonderful save while Gspurning made a diving save of a Jackson shot midway through the second half.

The draw keeps the FC Dallas playoff hopes alive as Vancouver lost.  Dallas improved to 3-1-1 in its last five to move four points behind Vancouver for the Western Conference's fifth and final postseason spot.
