Colleyville Heritage blast Keller Central behind Connor Cole hat trick

Thursday marked the opening of the Kyle Fritz Memorial in Keller and the sun came out to give us an absolute perfect day for some high school soccer.  The opening game pitted two undefeated teams as Keller Central hosted Colleyville Heritage in what was expected to be a very competitive matchup.  Unfortunately, only one team showed up as the home side Keller Central looked like they were still in history class rather than on a soccer field.

Colleyville Heritage wasted no time in jumping all over the listless boys from Central scoring on two set pieces in the opening nine minutes of play.  Layton Lyons opened the scoring while Connor Cole made a good near post run to flick home the second corner.  Just like that and the Panthers were in complete control of the match.  Sophomore Connor Cole would score again only minutes later to make it 3-0 and the rout was on.

Keller Central were able to pull one back just before halftime after a long throw in yielded a foul in the Heritage penalty area.  Evan Ripic stepped up and blasted home the spot kick past Adam Gaudet making it 3-1 at the break.

All hope Central had of a second half comeback was killed in the opening minutes as Connor Cole raced in behind the CFC defense getting on the end of a good pass from Omri Sharf.  Cole easily finished past Josh Starkey to complete his hat trick on the afternoon.  Omri Sharf nearly made it 5-1 soon after as he curled a shot off the post.  Colleyville Heritage cruised to the 4-1 victory from there as Jonathan Martin and Sharf controlled play in the midfield.  The Panthers move to 3-0-2 on the young season with the win. Next up on Friday for Colleyville Heritage is a good side from Arlington Sam Houston while Keller Central will look to bounce back from their first loss of the season against Canyon.
