2009 High School Soccer Season Kicks Off

The 2009 Dallas/Fort Worth high school soccer season kicked off this weekend with a host of tournaments throughout the area. On the boys side, Dallas Jesuit, #1 ranked nationally, showed their class in winning their Meinster Tourney this weekend. It was an impressive field which included Jesuit, Allen, Flower Mound Marcus and Highland Park. Jesuit won the final 2-0 over Allen behind goals from Alexei Reyes and Reese Pumphrey. Sasche took the Dragon Invitational title in winning all four of their matches. Southlake finished with 2 wins and 2 draws in the tournament that was decided on points rather than in a championship match. Frisco Wakeland claimed the Mr Pink Tournament title played at Pizza Hut Park with a 1-0 win over Frisco Centennial. Keller took the Lovejoy tournament with a win over Longview Pinetree in the championship. It was Burleson taking the Upper 90 Tournament with a 1-0 win over Azle. In girls play, Keller and Lake Highlands looked to be the class of the Nolan Showcase that annually has a loaded field. Keller claimed the title winning all four of their matches including 1-0 over Ursuline and a 2-1 win over Plano West. Arlington Martin, Ursuline, Coppell and Hockaday all went 3-1-0 on the weekend. It was Birdville taking the Upper 90 Tournament with a 1-0 win over Haltom.
