High School Soccer Season kicks off with Tourneys
Published 1/17/2012 10:29:24 AM by staff from dallas
Last weekend kicked off the high school soccer tournament season here in Texas and several schools got off to quick starts. The most impressive side on the weekend had to be Coppell for sure. Even though they had the home field advantage they still dispatched quality competition in rolling to the Coppell Kick-off Classic title.
The Coppell Kick-off Classic easily had the best field and Coppell rolled with easy wins over Plano East, Midland, South Grand Prairie and Allen. Their only real test came in the championship where they won a tight 2-1 match over Plano.
Richland High School also had a solid weekend of play as they won their own tournament as well winning all four of their matches. Richland beat Burleson in the championship match Saturday evening.
Southlake looks like they are going to have quite the challenge in defending their state title from last year. They clearly have offensive issues as they were shutout twice last weekend losing to Richardson Berkner and playing to a scoreless draw with Mansfield. Looks like they have no replacement for last years star Mac McGuire, but with a solid defense they'll be in every game.
