Marcus & Flower Mound move to the top of District 5-6A Soccer

Once again District 5-6A surprises. It seems every matchday gives eye opening results as another team rises up.  The main thing I have noticed so far after seven games is that it has been a curse to take over the top spot in the standings. It seems every team that moves into first place promptly loses their next game!

Hence the shellacking Trinity took last night at the hands of Flower Mound.  The Jags went to Euless and played a 4-0 masterpiece to jump past the Trojans and into a tie for 1st with Marcus who destroyed a floundering Byron Nelson squad 9-1. Ouch! Looking ahead there is still everything to play for as the second round of play begins Friday.

The big match on Friday is Marcus traveling to face Trinity.  A huge game at the top of the standings. Marcus will be looking to avenge an opening night 1-0 loss on home turf and with a win could open a gap between themselves and the Trojans in the table. Byron Nelson will look to get back on track after getting hammered by Marcus on Tuesday night.  LD Bell could be just the right medicine and a required 3 points for any playoff hopes.

Another huge game with playoff implications has Hebron visiting Southlake.  The Dragons could take a big step towards the playoffs with a home victory. Don't look now but Lewisvlle is on the move.  After an awful start to the district season the Farmers are on fire.  Flower Mound needs to be on red alert as they travel to face Lewisville on Friday night. A Farmer win could throw them into a playoff position.

District 5-6A Soccer Standings
FM Marcus        5 - 0 - 2 for 15 points
Flower Mound    5 - 0 - 2 for 15 points
Trinity               4 - 1 - 2 for 13 points
Southlake         3 - 1 - 3 for 10 points
Hebron            3 - 0 - 4 for  9 points
Lewisville         3 - 0 - 4 for  9 points
Byron Nelson    2 - 2 - 3 for  8 points
LD Bell            1 - 0 - 6 for  3 points
