The McKinney Boyd girls rolled on in their quest to repeat as state champions as they squeeked by Plano West 3-2 on a goal with 16 minutes remaining to break a 2-2 tie. It was a wonderful match between two state powers that came down to the end, but the defending state champions had that little extra to prevail. Meredith Molge and Emily Brennan notched the goals for Plano West while Emily Reid scored a pair for McKinney Boyd who move to 22-4-2 on the season and advance to face a tough Midland squad in the regional semifinals. Meanwhile, the Coppell girls also advance to regionals with a 4-1 overtime victory over FM Marcus. Marcus led 1-0 at halftime, but Coppell rallied to send the game to overtime tied 1-1. Coppell took over in extra time scoring three times. They will face Amarillo next.
