It was a wonderful night in Fort Worth as a large crowd of over 2,000 turned out to see the TCU womens soccer team face off with the Mexico Womens National Team in a friendly match. Fresh off their impressive win over UT in Austin last Friday the TCU women would put up a valiant fight but Mexico would triumph on the night 4-1. Mexico took the lead in the 24th minute of play but TCU would tie the match when Katie Taylor knocked home a corner kick. Jackie Torda had a good chance to put TCU ahead just after but Mexico goalkeeper Erika Vanegas made the tough save. Mexico would take the lead before halftime when Evelyn Lopez scored. The match would stay 2-1 until the last 10 minutes of play when Mexico broke it open with a pair of late goals. "It was an electric atmosphere tonight," said head coach Dan Abdalla. "I thought we learned a lot about ourselves against a high-level international team. That is the reason we played this game, to see where our girls are at going into the rest of our games this season." TCU will open its regular season home schedule on Friday against UT-San Antonio at 7 pm.
