The North Texas womens soccer team gave longtime coach John Hedlund a treat on Friday evening. Not only did they knock off Baylor it was also the coach's 200th career win. Michelle Young was the hero on the night as the freshman tallied both goals for North Texas.
It took Michelle Young and North Texas only two minutes to get on the scoreboard as Young knocked home an assist from Kendall Juett. Shortly after the goal the weather delayed the match 45 minutes from which Baylor returned with a vengence. Shots for the rest of the 1st half were 10-0 Baylor including the tying goal from Lotto Smith.
North Texas would strike early in the 2nd half to regain the lead. Young scoerd her 2nd when she rounded her defender and fired home a shot from just outside the box. After that the defense would go to work and North Texas would hold on for the 2-1 win.
North Texas will next Saturday morning at 11 am when they host Prairie View.
