A cool wind blew through Muss Bertolino Stadium on Friday, flushing out the heat as well as the hopes of the Shell Shockers becoming playoff bound. The Shell Shockers (4-5-5) had hoped to gain a win that would provide them with valuable points necessary to qualifying for the upcoming playoffs. Unfortunately, despite displaying moments of brilliant passing, they could not find the net, ultimately falling to the DFW Tornados (6-6-3) 1-0.

First Half-

8th minute- After a flurry of shots from both teams, DFW’s Owen Botting finds a loose ball in the Shell Shocker box. His shot goes just wide.

13th minute- A surge from the Tornado offense forces Shell Shocker defender Ged Quinn to head the ball out of danger. When the Tornados are awarded a free kick, the ball is sent into dangerous territory where goalkeeper Dustyn Brim’s safe hands deny a goal.

25th minute- Shell Shocker Adam Gold is shown the first yellow card of the match.

27th minute- New Orleans’ Gino Ray dodges the Dallas defense and makes a run into the box. Dallas goal keeper Brian Sacher grabs the ball, denying the Shell Shockers a goal.

35th minute- Shell Shocker Brandon Chagnard gets off a shot which sails over the crossbar.

37th minute- The Shell Shockers are awarded a free kick when Dallas’s Dillon Vedral takes Brandon Chagnard down just outside of the box.

38th minute-Shell Shockers P.J. Kee and Jamie Davies frustrate the Dallas defense with their accurate passing. When Chagnard receives Davies cross, he takes a beautiful curving shot that rings against the left post.

45th minute-GOAL- The Tornados’ Cole Sweetzer sneaks a shot past the Shell Shocker defense and goal keeper Dustyn Brim’s outstretched hands. The half ends with the DFW Tornados leading the Shell Shockers 1-0.

Second Half-

50th minute- Just five minutes into the second half; Josh Couvillion is shown a yellow card, becoming the second Shell Shocker to be booked in the match.

58th minute- P.J. Kee is wrestled to the ground 25 yards out from the Dallas goal. The Shell Shockers are awarded a free kick and when the net cannot be found, two subsequent corner kicks result.

61st minute- Gino Ray attempts to even the score, but is denied when his diving header is saved by Dallas goalkeeper Brian Sacher.

65th minute- It seemed as if the Shell Shockers might even the score when the Dallas goalkeeper Brian Sacher steps out of the box. Brandon Chagnard receives the ball, sending a shot just over the crossbar.

77th minute- Dustyn Brim makes an excellent save, preventing the Tornados from adding another goal to the scoreboard.

88th minute- The Shell Shockers continue to pressure the Dallas defense to no avail as they are unable to even the score. The whistle blows ending the match in favor of the Dallas-Fort Worth Tornados. 1-0.
