FC Dallas announced the signing of defensive midfielder Peter Luccin.  Management tout Luccin as a major signing to fill the shoes of the retired Daniel Hernandez in the central midfield. The deal will be finalized once he receives his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate.

“Peter came in at the end of the season to be seen by the FC Dallas coaching staff,” said FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman. “We were in the final two weeks of training, so he was being measured against a group of players who were very fit. He really impressed us. He can cover a lot of space in central midfield and he seldom loses the ball. He is going to be a very good addition to our team.”

Well I hope this is not the big signing of the offseason.  Well Travelled and rarely played would be a better description of Luccin.  He is 33 years old and has only played 8 matches in the last three years total.  Sure he was a solid player in his past, but that was nearly a decade ago unfortunately.

Why can't the FC Dallas management be forward thinking enough to actuallu go get a bonafide player with name recognition from Mexico?  I know a star cannot be convinced to come to Frisco, but a solid youngster should be able to be had.  Instead all we get are Columbians and an overage guy from Europe.

You want to fill up FC Dallas Stadium and generate true fan buzz?  Go get a good young Mexico player from their U23 squad and bring him to town.  Management would be amazed how much interest would be generated.
