FC Dallas to open playoffs against NY Red Bulls Wednesday
Published 10/24/2011 5:27:11 AM by staff from dallas
FC Dallas opens the 2011 MLS playoffs against the New York Red Bulls Wednesday night at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco. The team is looking to repeat last years magical run that took them all the way to the MLS Cup.
New York will pose a significant threat though as they boast considerable talent. Thierry Henry, Rafa Marquez, Tim Ream and Dane Richards. The teams met twice this season with a draw at Red Bull Arena in July and a Red Bull win at Pizza Hut Park in September in a game where FC Dallas outshot NY by a considerable margin.
FC Dallas will be playing in the Eastern Conference side of the bracket due to the silly MLS playoff wild card rules. It is considered an easier draw for FCD though as they will miss Seattle, Real Salt Lake and the powerful Los Angeles Galaxy.
If FC Dallas is able to get past the Red Bulls, they'll match up in a home and away series with Eastern Conference leaders Sporting Kansas City.
