FC Dallas has ninth pick in today's MLS draft

FC Dallas owns two of the first 14 picks and six total picks in today's MLS Superdraft. However, the 2007 class is not very deep.

"There is a lot of quality, but I don't think the depth in quality is as good as in previous years," FC Dallas coach Steve Morrow said. "Even last year and the year before, you could get good, solid picks in the second and third round. I just don't know if you can get very good quality down the draft [this year]."

FCD, which will start off with the ninth pick, doesn't have an urgent need to fill in its starting lineup. But Morrow said he wants his first pick to be a player who can compete right away for a spot on this season's team.

With plenty of defenders on the roster and a lack of scoring forward's available in the draft, FC Dallas plans to pay more attention to the midfield position, especially players who can play several positions.

Today's draft can be seen at 11 a.m. on ESPN2.
