UNT Soccer Recruiting Class Ranked In Central Region

The newest version of North Texas soccer is already getting rave reviews. Soccer Buzz Magazine has ranked the 2007 North Texas soccer recruiting class 14th in the central region ahead of numerous schools from the Big 12, SEC, and Conference-USA.  The Mean Green’s class is ranked ahead of Texas Tech, Memphis, LSU, Baylor, Arkansas, and Oklahoma State in the central region.  The North Texas class of 2007 includes forwards Ciarra True and Janaye Woods, midfielders Stephanie Eckert, Danielle Herron, Lindsey Lacklore, defender’s Catherine Pollock and Jacy Wiker, along with goalkeeper Amanda Hall.  

North Texas had the second best recruiting class in the Sun Belt Conference, trailing only the Denver Pioneers.


Stephanie Eckert, Midfielder, Coppell, Texas (Coppell High School)
Eckert was named to the second-team all-district team after her junior season. She currently plays for the Texas Spirit club team. Eckert has played for the Tejanos Premier team from 2003-06.

Amanda Hall, Goalkeeper, Colleyville, Texas (Colleyville Heritage High School)
Hall was named the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Player of the Week on Feb. 2. This season through nine games she has 6.5 shutouts. Hall is a two-time second-team all-district selection, her sophomore and junior seasons. She was named to the second-team all-district squad her junior season and had 12 shutouts. Hall plays for the club team Solar ’89 which is ranked 32nd nationally. She has been a member of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) North Texas’89 team since the 2000-01 season.

Danielle Herron, Midfielder, Flower Mound, Texas (Flower Mound High School)
Herron was named to the District 7-5A all-freshman team and is a four-year varsity player. She has played on the club team Solar ’89 since the 2002 season and has been the captain for five years. In 2005 and 2006 they were a North Texas State Cup semi-finalist. In 2004 her team was a Texas Cup quarterfinalist. Herron played with the Dallas Texans Red West ‘89 team for two years from 2000-02.

Lindsey Lackore, Midfielder, Frisco, Texas (Frisco High School)
Lackore was the District 13-4A Newcomer of the Year and a first-team all-district selection in 2004. She has compiled 19 goals, 21 assists, and 59 points throughout her high school career. She is member of the ODP team ’88 state championship team in 2001-02 and again in 2003-04. Lackore plays for the club team Sting ’89 Royal which was the 2004 North Texas State Champions and the 2003 Texas Cup Champions.

Catherine Pollock, Defender, Denton, Texas (Denton High School)
She is one of the best defenders in the metroplex. As a freshman she was named the District 8-4A Freshman of the Year. Pollock was named all-state, all-region, and all-county as a freshman. She was a member of the 2004 Denton High School team that won the Class 4A State title. Pollock plays for the club team D’Feeters ‘89, which is ranked 36th nationally and 6th regionally.

Ciarra True, Forward, Justin, Texas (Northwest High School)
True was her team’s leading scorer during her sophomore season and is a three-year varsity player.  She holds the school record for assists. A multi-sport star, True holds the school record in the high jump and the long jump at Northwest High School.

 Jacy Wicker, Defender, Colleyville, Texas (University of Nebraska)
Wicker played in 19 games last season for the Nebraska Huskers and started in 11 games as a freshman. She had nine shots and was part of a Nebraska defense that had five shutouts on the season. The 2005 team captain, Wicker helped lead Colleyville High School to an outstanding season in her senior year. The Heritage defense had seven shutouts on the year. Wicker also contributed two assists along with two goals and was named the 2005 District 5-5A Utility Player of the Year. Wicker played club soccer for the highly successful Dallas Texans Red North. The Red North went 30-0-1 in Wicker’s final season and was crowned both the 2006 State Cup Champions and the 2005 Disney Champions. The team’s success helped it earn a No. 1 national ranking. Wicker was also a member of the Olympic Development Program. In 2005, she helped lead her team to the semifinals of the fifth annual Olympic Development Program National Championships.

Janaye Woods, Forward, Allen, Texas, (Allen High School)
Woods is a three-time first-team all-district selection in 2004, 2005, and 2006. She has played for the club team ’89 Sting Royal since 2004, which is ranked 6th nationally. Her club team was the 2006 Texas Cup Champions and a finalist at the Disney Soccer Sho
