Own goal lifts FC Dallas past Philadephia

Finally some good fortune for FC Dallas.  Things have definitely been looking better of late and coach Oscar Pareja looks to have righted the ship.  After a great start to the 2014 MLS season FC Dallas fell on hard times.  Last year Schellas Hyndman and the boys were unable to work their way out of the freefall.

This summer it looks like FC Dallas has turned things around.  One attribute of teams that are fighting and on the right track are that they seem to get good bounces as well.  FC Dallas got the winning goal Friday night from an own goal that was poorly cleared from the Union defense.

A sellout crowd greeted FCD to Toyota Park in Frisco expecting a win and to enjoy a great fireworks show afterwards.  They were not disappointed at all.  An early goal from 1st round draftpick Tesho Akindele got the home side going early as they pressed the play. The Union were able to even the match just before halftime though through Omobi Okugo.

FC Dallas rallied after the break and were back in front in only a few minutes.  A Fabinho clearance by the Union hit Sheanon Williams and went into the net for an own goal.  2-1 FC Dallas and they wouldn't look back from there.

There was some drama after the own goal though.  Dallas keeper Chris Seitz went down with an injury and had to be replaced.  Luckily FCD had the very capable Raul Fernandez waiting on the bench.  The second half also saw the return of the uber-talented Dallas midfielder Mauro Diaz who raced around giving the Union fits for the final twenty minutes of the game.  Look out if he is healthy now.  FC Dallas are a completely different team with him on the field.

FCD closed out the 2-1 victory and head into an off week with a good bit of momentum.
