FC Dallas acquired Dave van den Bergh from the New York Red Bull for Dominic Oduro and a 2nd round draft pick in the upcoming 2009 MLS Draft.  The two teams also swapped the 11th & 14th picks in round 1.  So NY has the 11th and 18th overall picks while FC Dallas has van den Bergh and the 14th pick now.

Dave van den Bergh is widely considered one of the best left-sided players in the league after notching 7 goals and 5 assists last season in New York.  He will add veteran leadership and a solid presence in the midfield to go along with the powerful strike force of Jeff Cunningham and Kenny Cooper.

The team was able to fill their need on the left side with van den Bergh and they still have the #5 and #14 picks in the draft.  On the other hand, trading Oduro thins the depth available at forward for the upcoming season.  It also sends a clear message that Kenny Cooper is expected back with the squad and not heading overseas.
