Marcus and Jesuit set to do battle

The most anticipated matchup of the season takes place Tuesday night at Pennington field as the two time defending 5A state champion FM Marcus faces off against #1 ranked Jesuit Tuesday night for a berth in the regional tournament in Midland next weekend.

Both teams are loaded with top North Texas club talent.  Marcus has the high powered offense lef by such players as Zach Barnes, Chad Caldwell and Gino DePaoli.  The Marauders are trying to win a 3rd consecutive state championship....something that hasn't been done since Plano in 91-93.

Jesuit is clearly the biggest obstacle to Marcus's goal.  Undefeated and ranked #1 in the nation currently with a very stingy defense.  They have six players signed to play college ball next fall including Dayton signees Nate Dombrowski and Sewell Strifler who notched the game winner over Southlake in the last round of play.

The winner will face the winner of the El Paso Bel Air - Mansfield match in Midland at the regional tourney.   The other side of the region I bracket has a very enticing Plano - Coppell match and two El Paso sides in EP Americas and EP Socorro.
