FC Dallas crashes out of US Open Cup

It seems FC Dallas is out of the US Open Cup almost before it even started as DC United scored a goal on each side of halftime to beat FC Dallas 2-0 in a playin game for the tournament.   Fred and Brandon Barklage notched the goals for DC United.

FC Dallas fielded a younger side as they had to travel immediately after the game all the way across the country for a weekend game at Chivas USA in Los Angeles.  On that note....what do we think will happen at Chivas USA?  Let's see....What do you get when you put the league's best offense (Chivas) at home against the MLS worst defense (FC Dallas)?  Sure FC Dallas has been playing better of late, but they are still letting in goals at an alarming rate.  Expect Chivas to grab 3 or 4.

It's ashame FC Dallas is out of the US Open Cup as they have some good young talent that could have benefited from an Open Cup run.  Players like Brek Shea, Peri Marosevic, Michael Dello-Russo and Bruno Guarda could have soaked up the experience as they are not likely to get much time with the main squad in league matches this year.  The elimination of the reserve league will hurt this group.
