It is the record bid that broke the record bid from earlier this week for Brazilian Kaka.  Both were made by Real Madrid and totaled well over $200 million.   Earlier this week Real Madrid pried Kaka away from AC Milan.  Then today word that Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo have accepted a record bid of over $120 million from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

It was a move that has been rumored and in the press for over a year with both Manchester United and Real Madrid posturing back and forth.  Today it came to fruition as Manchester United finally gave in to the wild dollar figure.  With $700 million in debt currently the inflow will drastically help their debt situation.  It is yet to be seen how much of the transfer funds are allotted to Coach Sir Alex Ferguson in an attempt to bolster the squad with new signings.

The Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo transfers will drastically change the balance of power in European soccer as Real Madrid look to counter the success of Spanish rivals Barcelona who won the a Liga and Champions League this past year.
