FC Dallas knocks off rival Houston Dynamo

Jeff Cunningham continued his stellar play scoring the winner Thursday night at Pizza Hut Park as FC Dallas defeated rivals Houston Dynamo 1-0.  Coming off a 6-0 blasting of Kansas City last weekend, FC Dallas looked to build on their streak.  This time it was Texas rival Houston Dynamo who came calling.  Last time the two met FC Dallas dominated every facet of the game except putting the ball in the net.  This time it would be different.

FC Dallas once again were the better team, but this time they were also the winners on the night.  In the 20th minute Jeff Cunningham won a battle at the top of the Dynamo box where he turned and fired the ball into the right netting.  It was Cunningham's ninth goal of the season.  Dario Sala only had to make one save on the night to grab the shutout.  Houston picked up five yellow cards and only one shot.  Not going to win many matches with those numbers.

The win pushes FC Dallas into a tie with San Jose.  Believe it or not, after all the poor play this season, FC Dallas is only 4 points out of a playoff position thanks to their recent run.  FC Dallas now heads out on the road facing the best and the worst in the Eastern Conference.  They'll travel to Columbus and then move on to New York.
