FC Dallas cant solve Columbus riddle

FC Dallas became the latest to go into Columbus and come out with nothing against the Crew as they fell 2-0 Saturday in Ohio.  The Columbus Crew ran their MLS record home unbeaten streak to 20 matches with the win.

Chad Marshall got the home side on the board in the 10th minute as he headed home a corner kick from close range.  It was a disappointing goal to concede for FC Dallas as they had worked at length during the week on set piece defense.  Dallas tried to press for the equalizer but William Hesmer had his third consecutive shutout and preserved the 1-0 advantage in the 72nd minute when he knocked a close-range header from Jeff Cunningham over the bar.

The insurance goal came late in the 2nd half when Eddie Gaven capped off a long run scoring from the top of the box.  The loss seriously dents FC Dallas' playoff hopes as the team must now head to New York for a matchup with the Red Bulls that must be won.
