Something had to give on Saturday night in Utah.  FC Dallas were unbeaten in 19 and Real Salt Lake had a long home unbeaten streak of their own at 25.  It took the defending MLS champions to put a halt to the FC Dallas record of 19 consecutive matches without a defeat.  Both teams also wanted to send a message to a rival with the MLS playoffs looming.

After a scoreless first half which saw FC Dallas rattle the home side by disrupting the RSL passing game, the home side got on the board from an unlikely source to open the second half.  A header from Ned Grabavoy put RSL ahead as he beat Dario Sala to the ball.

FC Dallas added offense and set about searching for the tying goal.  They created several chances, but RSL put the match away in the dying minutes as Javier Morales scored.  The match ended 2-0 and FC Dallas saw their record streak come to an end. Meanwhile, the LA Galaxy were dropping points at home as they lost to Colorado allowing Real Salt Lake to move only a point behind in the chase for the Western Conference crown.
