So much for the Conference USA champions.  The SMU mens soccer team crashed out of the Conference USA Tournament falling their opening game 2-1 to South Carolina.  The loss will definitely hurt the #5 ranked Mustang's seeding for the upcoming NCAA Soccer Tournament.

Arthur Ivo put SMU on top in the 30th minute of play as he took a pass from Kekoa Osorio and fed the ball to the far lower corner from just inside the 18 yard box. The goal was his eighth of the season.   South Carolina scored a shocker though with only 2 seconds left to play in the first half to tie the match.  South Carolina's leading scorer Blake Brettschneider made a long run vefore firing into the corner of the net past SMU keeper Craig Hill.

South Carolina carried the momentum into the second half where they would get the winner.  The Gamecocks went up 2-1 when Will Traynor headed in a corner kick from Stephen Morrissey in the 50th minute.   South Carolina now will try to garner the automatic NCAA Tournament bid in the final while SMU awaits the NCAA Tournament selection Monday at 3:30 on ESPNU to find out its next opponent.
