FC Dallas defeats Houston Dynamo to win Disney Classic

My what a difference a couple of weeks makes.  Two weeks ago FC Dallas opened the preseason by taking a thumping at the hands of the Houston Dynamo.  This weekend they had a chance to exact a little bit of revenge.  Sure it is only preseason, but it still counts for something.

The lone Dallas goal came in the 15th minute as Ruben Luna, a Mexico U20 national team forward, found the back of the net for coach Shellas Hyndman’s group. Right winger Marvin Chavez was given all the time in the world to measure his cross into the box and Luna barely had to move from his position near the penalty spot, lofting the ball over Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall and into the right side netting.

FC Dallas looked poised to win a 1-0 shutout until Houston struck just before the end of the match.  In the 88th minute, Francisco Navas Cobo unleashed a wicked shot that found  top left corner of the net from just outside the penalty area .

The game would go to penalties where young FC Dallas keeper Chris Seitz would save the opener from Houston opening the door for the FC Dallas win.  Brek Shea knocked home the winner and FC Dallas were Disney Classic champions. The season opener is less than three weeks away as FCD hosts the Chicago Fire on March 19th at Pizza Hut Park.
