Four area girls teams head to State after titles

North Texas girls are as strong as ever.  Four area high school girls soccer teams head to Georgetown seeking state titles this weekend.  In 5A play both Colleyville Heritage and McKinney Boyd are seeking championships.  Colleyville Heritage takes their stifling defense and a 21-2-1 record south to face a strong Houston Clear Lake side (23-2-4).  Should be a real cracker of a semifinal.

The other semifinal has #1 ranked McKinney Boyd (26-1-1) facing underdogs San Antonio Johnson (18-5-3).  Boyd lost last year's state final to The Woodlands, but got revenge as they eliminated them last weekend in regional play.  We could potentially have an all north Texas final if Heritage and Boyd can get thru their semifinals.

In Class 4A play, Frisco Wakeland has a tough test as they will match up with undefeated Waco Midway.  Midway is unbeaten this year in 28 games, but they have not played nearly as challenging a schedule as Frisco Wakeland has.  The other semifinal pits Denton Ryan (26-2-1) against Cedar Park Vista Ridge.  Should be a great game between what looks like two evenly matched sides.

Just as in 5A, we could get an all north Texas final between Denton Ryan and Frisco Wakeland on Saturday.
