FC Dallas kept their hot streak going as they ran out to a comfortable 2-0 win over the Philadelphia Union Saturday night at Pizza Hut Park.  The win gives Dallas 13 points from their last 5 matches.  Even the loss of MLS MVP David Ferreira cannot slow them down.

The Union got off to a good start and created a couple of quality chances in the opening 20 minutes.  From there it was all FC Dallas as they attacked in waves over the final 25 minutes of the opening half.  Forwards Chavez and Castillo were running wild as their pace and skill kept the Union defense on their heels.

Wide midfielder Brek Shea continued his stellar play of late and found himself on the end of a penetrating Castillo run at the half-hour mark.  After shaking Union defender Jordan Harvey, Castillo sent a grounded cross to a waiting Shea who tapped in past a helpless Faryd Mondragón for a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute.

Only minutes later FC Dallas made it 2-0.  Brazilian Jackson Gonçalves darted down the right sideline at the Union defense and floated a cross to Castillo in between defender Danny Califf and Carlos Valdés. Castillo had no problem with the header, flicking it by Mondragón for a 2-0 lead.  The goal by the 18-year-old Castillo marked the first time this season that Philadelphia have conceded two goals in a match.

With the shutout, the FC Dallas defense hasn’t allowed a goal in 309 minutes, the second-longest streak of the year behind the Columbus Crew, who held a streak of 414 minutes without conceding a goal.  FC Dallas next have a Western Conference showdown with Real Salt Lake on May 22 at Pizza Hut Park.
