Set pieces allowed FC Dallas to blow open the match and crush Portland 4-0 on Saturday night at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas.  Two corner kicks towards the end of the first half gave FCD a 2-0 halftime lead.  The home side cruised from there to the easy win.

The two goals came from defenders who were pushed up for the set pieces.  In the 34th minute of play Zach Loyd scored his first MLS goal on a backpost header.  Just minutes later George John went up high to head another corner home.

The second half was much the same as Brek Shea continued his hot streak scoring in the 59th minute of play.  It was Shea's 7th goal of the year which puts him 3rd overall in MLS scoring.  he final goal of the night came from rookie Ruben Luna who notched his first career goal.  Jackson's shot deflected and Luna ran in to tap it home.

Kevin Hartman had a quiet night in goal for FC Dallas only having to make two saves to pick up his MLS leading 8th shutout of the year. Next up for FC Dallas is a midweek US Open Cup match at Pizza Hut Park against Orlando FC.
