The #5 ranked SMU mens soccer team dropped a tough 3-2 match to #13 ranked William & Mary in Dallas in the 2011 home opener.  SMU jumped out early as freshman Emmet Kumeh scored in the 12th minute of play as he fired home a wonderful long range shot from nearly 35 yards out.

William & Mary were not intimidated though as they rallied back in grand fashion scoring the next three goals in the match to break it open.  Nicolas Abrigo scored twice around a goal from Ben Anderson to give the visitors a 3-1 lead.

SMU would try to fight their way back as Aaron Simmons scored a header off an Arthur Ivo corner kick with 12 minutes to play, but SMU could not finish the comeback.  Despite outshooting W&M 15-10 and holding a 10-2 edge in corners the Mustangs ended the night on the losing end of a 3-2 score.  Next weekend SMU is in North Carolina for the Duke Tournament where they will face North Carolina State and Duke.
