The games just keep getting bigger and bigger as the playoff run is in full stretch.  Thank goodness FCD has a strong willed and talented veteran like Blas Perez.  His energy lifted the squad Saturday as he notched both goals in the important 2-1 victory over the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps.

The three points were huge as it helps solidify FCD's hold on 4th place in the MLS Western Conference.  It also opened an 8 point gap between Vancouver and Dallas with only a handful of matches left to play.

The opening goal was a bit of a fluke for Dallas.  OK. Let's be honest.  It was blind luck.  Blas Perez received a pass way out on the right sideline where he turned and blasted a blind cross to the back post.  The ball floated over sprawling keeper David Ousted and into the back side netting.  A lucky goal, but also a very valuable goal.

After the break Vancouver answered back in the 67th minute.  A counter attack released Mauro Rosales and Erik Hurtado on the break.  A nice pass from Rosales was blasted home by Hurtado and suddenly the match was all even.  Would the points be split?

Not on this night!  FC Dallas went right back to work looking for the winner.  They found it ten minutes later as Blas Perez volleyed home from ten yards out.  FC Dallas now sits only a single point behind Real Salt Lake for the coveted third place position.  Things get tougher though as FC Dallas must travel to the LA Galaxy before returning home to play the Seattle Sounders the next two weekends!
