The LD Bell girls were looking to show they could take their game to another level Friday night as they faced powerful Colleyville Heritage.  They had already locked up second place in the district behind Heritage, but wanted to show they could be a factor in the coming playoffs.  They made a good account of themselves battling to a 1-1 stalemate.

Speedy attacker Anjadai Seals kept the offense going for Bell (18-3-3, 12-2-2), chasing balls into the corner and firing several centering shots for scoring opportunities. It was her quick move to the left that created space for a pass to Holiday Williams, who got a shot past Colleyville freshman goalkeeper Samantha Hodges in the 55th minute for a 1-0 lead.

Colleyville answered back in the 68th through Dani Garica.   With Heritage (10-9-3, 10-4-1) looking squarely at a loss, Garcia found some space and a bit of luck to tie the game. With Heritage (10-9-3, 10-4-1) looking squarely at a loss, Garcia found some space and a bit of luck to tie the game. Garcia took a centering pass from Nina Smith, fumbled the ball briefly, but recovered to fire a rocket at Bell goalkeeper Sarah Mayorga. Mayorga made a leaping save left, but the ball squirted under her arm and rolled in goal.

Bell coach Corey Rolf said his team should be proud of the 1-1 tie. "I told them to keep their head up," he said. "In the numerous times we've played them, we've never won or tied, so it really is something to build on."
