FC Dallas winless streak hits 5 with Seattle loss

Things are not going well for FC Dallas at all.  A 2-0 loss to Seattle ran the early season winless streak to five straight matches as FC Dallas continues to freefall in the MLS standings.

Injuries and suspensions have been killing the club.  Undisciplined play has led to several suspensions already this season and with the rash of injuries the poor results have come in bunches.

On Wednesday evening it was the Seattle Sounders turn to heap on the pain.  An even first half went Seattle's way in the second.  FC Dallas came out after the break on the front foot and put alot of pressure on the visitors.

Fredy Montero flipped the match on its head though in a matter of a couple of minutes.  He scored two fabulous goals allowing Seattle to get out of Dallas with the three points.

The first of Montero’s pair of scores came in the 68th minute when the Seattle striker received the ball on the right side of the box and outmaneuvered FC Dallas defenders Hernán Pertúz and James Marcelin.

Montero left both in a daze as he buried the ball in the back of the net to give Seattle a 1-0 lead. FC Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman, who had a seven-save game against Colorado last Saturday, had absolutely no chance at stopping the powerful shot.

FC Dallas tried to kill Seattle’s momentum by bringing on a hobbling Brek Shea, but Montero quickly silenced the crowd with another scintillating goal, this time on a diving header that crushed any dreams of an FC Dallas comeback and put the Sounders in the driver’s seat with a comfortable two-goal advantage.

Dallas now hits the road to face the Columbus Crew on Saturday.
