FC Dallas slumps to Open Cup loss to Charlotte

Goodness gracious.  The downward spiral continues.  It was the perfect opportunity to get a bit of confidence for FC Dallas as they hosted a lower league side in a US Open Cup.  Instead it turned into an embarrassing loss.

The Charlotte Eagles of the USL came into Frisco and upset FC Dallas 2-0 on Tuesday evening.  Despite controlling the run of play all evening FC Dallas could not find the net as Charlotte keeper Clinton Irwin made 10 saves in the match.

On the other end, the Eagles only managed two shots the entire not on frame, but both got past Dallas keeper Chris Seitz.  Charlotte's Nate Thornton sent in a cross to the right side of the box in the 43rd minute for Darryl Roberts, who headed the ball to the far left side of the net past a diving Dallas 'keeper Chris Seitz. Thornton then shut the door in the fourth minute of extra time to seal the deal.

Things only get worse for FC Dallas as they take to the road for a match in Houston.  FCD is 0-6-1 on the road this year.
