Dallas Cup moving to The Cotton Bowl for 2013

Well there is not much to say about this other than unfortunate.  The biggest youth soccer event in North Texas is no longer to be held at FC Dallas Stadium and complex.  The premier soccer fields and stadium will sit empty as the highly respected 2013 Dallas Cup plays elsewhere.

Stunning.  There really is no excuse.  How Dallas Cup and FC Dallas could not come together is mind boggling.  FC Dallas wanted more money to use the complex.  Dallas Cup was offered an enticing incentive package by the city of Dallas to move.  It's business yes.  But it is disappointing.

Now we will watch Dallas Cup Super Group games at The Cotton Bowl.  Can you imagine how that stadium will swallow a Dallas Cup crowd?  It will be a cavern.

The rest of the Dallas Cup will be played at Richland College and UT-Dallas.  No games at the beautiful FC Dallas complex.  Instead we get games at UTD.  Outside of the main stadium at UTD the other fields are like playing on concrete.  Hard as a rock.

Hopefully this is a one year deal.  The two sides need to come together and get Dallas Cup back to Frisco.  I know it is a bit of a trek up to Frisco, but an event as revered as Dallas Cup needs the facilities.  FC Dallas needs the exposure as well.  One year only please.
